Mari Kazué was born in
Japan and has been living in France since 1992 where she created
her first symbolic theatre piece “
Asseyez-vous”
(a series of 9 works) in Paris. Her training in Japan began at the
Bungakuza school (based on the Shingeki style), followed by classical
Japanese dance (Jiutamai) and Nô. She later became assistant
to Tatsumi Hijikata, one of the founding fathers of Butoh.
After a period at the Lecoq school in Paris, Mari Kazué
developed the “Hadô”, her new method based on
waves and vibrations. Her mysterious, yet tender choreography,
full
of humanity, is accessible to all. Today, Mari Kazué continues
to work on international creations in France and Germany.
